Getting the Most from Your Massage

Water​​ ​is​ ​essential​ ​to​ ​life.​ ​It​ ​also​ ​can​ ​help​ ​make​ ​muscles​ ​more​ ​pliable​ ​during​ ​massage.​ ​Drinking some​ ​water​ ​​before​ ​and​ ​after​​ ​the​ ​massage​ ​is​ ​beneficial.

Frequency​​ ​of​ ​massage​ ​is​ ​important.​ ​It​ ​is​ ​great​ ​to​ ​be​ ​able​ ​to​ ​receive​ ​massage​ ​once​ ​a​ ​week.​ ​You will​ ​notice​ ​a​ ​difference​ ​between​ ​once​ ​a​ ​week​ ​over​ ​once​ ​a​ ​month.​ ​Talk​ ​to​ ​your​ ​therapist​ ​about your​ ​goals.​ ​This​ ​will​ ​help​ ​determine​ ​how​ ​often​ ​you​ ​should​ ​be​ ​getting​ ​a​ ​massage.​ ​I​ ​usually recommend​ ​at​ ​least​ ​every​ ​two​ ​weeks.

Communication​​ ​is​ ​the​ ​key.​ ​It​ ​is​ ​necessary​ ​to​ ​talk​ ​to​ ​your​ ​therapist.​ ​Keep​ ​your​ ​therapist informed​ ​of​ ​your​ ​Massage​ ​goals​ ​if​ ​they​ ​change.​ ​Also​ ​Let​ ​your​ ​therapist​ ​know​ ​if​ ​something​ ​hurts or​ ​feels​ ​too​ ​painful.

Between​ ​Massages,​ ​​it​ ​is​ ​good​ ​to​ ​pay​ ​attention​ ​to​ ​your​ ​body.​ ​Every​ ​once​ ​in​ ​awhile​ ​take​ ​stock​ ​of activities​ ​that​ ​affect​ ​your​ ​body.​ ​Make​ ​stretching​ ​a​ ​habit,​ ​when​ ​possible.
